Headsets: Get Ready for a Boom in VR and AR
The market for virtual reality and augmented reality headsets will boom in the coming years, according to new projections.
IDC on Monday said world-wide headset shipments will grow to nearly 70 million in 2022 from under 10 million last year, representing a compounded annual growth rate above 52%.
• Slightly more of the market will be in virtual, rather than augmented, reality headsets by then, IDC suggested, projecting about 62% market share for the former.
