Standalone Oculus Go Headset Could Be Launched In May
When headsets like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive were first launched, one of the criticisms that they received was that the headsets required them to be tethered to a computer. This meant that mobility was kind of out the window, although companies like HTC have since done something about it.
HTC isn’t alone either because last October, Facebook unveiled the Oculus Go, a standalone virtual reality (VR) headset. However the company did not mention when the headset would be made available save for some time in 2018, but we might have a date now thanks to a report from Variety whose sources have told them that it could be launched in May.
The report claims that Facebook plans on officially launching the headset at its F8 developer conference which is scheduled to take place on the 1st of May. We’re not sure if Facebook plans on putting it up for pre-order then or if they’re planning on selling it on the day itself, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
